Program notes

Thomas Quasthoff, who announced his retirement from singing baritone, is taking up the baton at the Verbier Festival in 2015!

He leads Bach's monumental Saint Matthew Passion, one of the composer's two Passions, whose story, taken from the Gospels of the Apostles, recounts the condemnation of Jesus, the Last Supper and crucifixion.
