Tugan Sokhiev conducts Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4

Another installment in their two-season long cycle of Shostakovich symphonies, Tugan Sokhiev leads the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in Shostakovich's moving and tragic Fourth Symphony. The first of his "war symphonies", the Fourth broke with the composer's past works of the genre: more than an hour of music, the symphony's length is equaled only by its artistic richness. The work is a testament to his heroic resistance to the oppressive Soviet regime.
