Tugan Sokhiev and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse invite the young piano prodigy, Behzod Abduraimov, to join them in performing Tchaikovsky's vivid and virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1.
This concert marked the opening of the Orchestre National du Capitole's 2014-2015 season. The program featured Slavonic works, including Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Dvořák's most popular work and easily one of the most popular pieces of the symphonic repertoire, his Symphony No. 9, From the New World.
The young Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov came into the spotlight in 2009 at the age of 18 when he won the London International Piano Competition with a performance of Prokofiev's extremely demanding Piano Concerto No. 3. Soon afterwards, Behzod Abduraimov signed a contract with Decca and recorded a disc featuring piano works by Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns, and Liszt.
