Under the baton of the conductor Riccardo Muti, the Wiener Philharmoniker performs Brahms's Symphony No. 2 and is joined by the famous German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter for the rendition of Tchaikovsky's popular Violin Concerto.
The legendary Wiener Philharmoniker starts a musical journey through time featuring Brahms's Symphony No. 2. Indeed, this piece is closely linked with the orchestra's own history, as the work was premiered by the Wiener Philharmoniker conducted by Hans Richter in 1877!
Anne-Sophie Mutter, the talented German violinist, who won countless awards around the world, joins the orchestra during this extraordinary concert. She celebrates a memorable anniversary with Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto: she played the same work here exactly 30 years ago – conducted at the time by Herbert von Karajan, who contributed to her rise in fame.
Riccardo Muti, one of the most prominent Italian conductors of our time, who spent 20 years at the head of the Teatro alla Scala as the Musical Director of the prestigious institution, conducts the performance.
