Program notes

Violinist Marc Bouchkov, cellist Zlatomir Fung, and pianist Mao Fujita join forces in an incredible concert live from Verbier Church!

First up on the program: Ravel’s sublime Piano Trio in A Minor. This enchanting piece consists of four movements, one of which has an unusual title, the “pantoum”, inspired by a form of poetry from South-East Asia. Arensky’s Piano Trio No. 1 follows, the composer’s most recorded and popular work. The fast-paced yet discreet piano rhythm creates a backdrop against which the main theme freely develops, evoking varying emotions as it reappears in different instrumental parts.
