Marc Bouchkov — Violinist

Program notes

Live from the spectacular 2021 Verbier Festival, Marc Bouchkov takes the stage at the sumptuous Verbier Church for a blockbuster solo recital! The violin virtuoso begins with Bach's Solo Partita No. 2, comprising a suite of dances capped by an absolutely monumental Ciaccona, renowned for its technical difficulty and its staggering emotional depth. Bouchkov continues with a Bach-inspired work by Ysaÿe, the evocative Sonata No. 5, dedicated to one of the composer's prized students, Mathieu Crickboom. The recital comes to a close with a set of variations on the popular Irish tune "The Last Rose of Summer," an extremely demanding work by Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst, himself an accomplished violinist. Bouchkov's expansive repertoire and rare talent will make this an evening for violin fans to cherish!
