Program notes

Join conductor Maxime Pascal and the always-innovating Le Balcon ensemble for the closing concert of the third edition of the Festival Singer-Polignac!

For this grand finale concert of the festival from the prestigious Fondation Singer-Polignac in Paris, Le Balcon performs two remarkably unique contemporary works, beginning with Jour, contre-jour for electric organ, 13 musicians, and a four-track magnetic tape by composer Gérard Grisey, the great champion of spectral music. The concert and festival finish with Franz Liszt’s Léonore for narrator and orchestra, in a contemporary arrangement by composer and pianist Michaël Levinas.
