Program notes

The brilliant Lahav Shani once again takes the helm of the world-class Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside violin virtuoso Sayaka Shoji and opera stars Chen Reiss, Bernarda Fink, Matthew Newlin, and Mikhail Petrenko in an unmissable live program that includes Sibelius's captivating Violin Concerto and Beethoven's immortal Ninth!

A magnificent program kicks off with the sublime Swansong by Estonian minimalist master Arvo Pärt, sublimely beautiful and masterfully orchestrated. Next, we have the pleasure of watching one of today's most talented violinists in one of the repertoire's most demanding and enchanting works: the great Sayaka Shoji in Sibelius's Violin Concerto, a blend of high virtuosity and rhythmic lyricism tinged with irresistible Finnish color. The program concludes with a symphonic masterpiece that needs no introduction: Beethoven's exultant, otherworldly Ninth Symphony, performed exquisitely by our special guest vocalists with the Munich Bach Choir and Gary Bertini Israeli Choir.
