A new symphony by Samy Moussa, conducted by Kent Nagano and staged by Moment Factory! This immersive and dreamlike event celebrates the 375th anniversary of Montreal's founding.
Inspired by the internationally-acclaimed young Canadian composer Samy Moussa's Symphony No. 1 "Concordia", Moment Factory creates a one-of-a-kind sensory experience within the walls of Montreal's Maison symphonique.
The evening's program is rounded off with Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "New World Symphony", one of the most famous works in the history of music. Premiered in 1893 at Carnegie Hall, it is the composer's great American work: "It seems to me that American soil has had a positive effect on me, and I would almost say that you will already hear it in this new symphony. I have written my own themes inspired by the music of African Americans and Native Americans." (Dvořák, on his Symphony No. 9).
