Meet genius violinist Janine Jansen and illustrious pianist Denis Kozhukhin for a fascinating program, broadcast live from the Verbier Church! The concert begins with the anguish of Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 7: the violin part is highly physical and technical from the outset, soaring atop the roaring piano. The dynamic duo then interprets a work by the great Clara Schumann, the Three Romances for Violin and Piano, which mixes lyricism with gypsy influences and provides the audience with a wonderful sense of freedom. The two virtuosos end the performance with a score that Clara Schumann herself greatly appreciated: Brahms’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 3, a dark and powerful masterwork.
