Conductor Vladimir Spivakov will celebrate his 70th birthday live from the Annecy Classic Festival, with Denis Matsuev.
He is one of the most prominent conductors, violinists, and music pedagogues in the world, and he will celebrate his 70th birthday at the Annecy Classic Festival. With his chamber orchestra the Moscow Virtuosi and pianist Denis Matsuev, he will perform Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C Major, that the composer himself called "a heartfelt piece, and so, I dare think, is not lacking in real qualities." Then, they will perform one of Mozart's most famous concertos, the joyous Piano Concerto No. 17, as well as Haydn's Cello concerto in C Major. The concert will end with Shostakovich's Prelude and Scherzo, for String Quartet, composed while he was a student at the Leningrad Conservatory.
