Program notes

“If what I heard is music, then I do not understand music at all”, said the conductor Hans von Bülow when confronted with the score of Totenfeier, soon to become the first movement of Mahler’s most popular symphony: the Symphony No. 2, nicknamed the “Resurrection” Symphony. Dense and poignant, the work is sublime in the hands of the maestro Gianandrea Noseda, aided by the brilliant voices of Ying Fang and Ketevan Kemoklidze.
