Program notes

Watch George Harliono's performance during the Round II of the Grand Piano Competition. He interprets Tchaikovsky's Piano concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23.

George is studying piano in the UK with Professor William Fong.

In 2012 George was awarded the Emanuel Trophy at the North London Festival of Music & Drama and more recently he won first prize at the Concours International de Piano at Lagny sur Marne, Paris.

In 2013 he won first prize in the 15 and under age group at the Evangelia Tjiarri International Piano Competition in Cyprus, and also the Grand Prix for the entire competition. He is the youngest competitor ever to have won this prize. Also in 2013 he won the first prize at the Jeunesses International Music Competition in Bucharest and was one of only 12 young pianists to be offered the opportunity to work and perform again with LangLang and became one of the Lang Lang Music Ambassadors.

In 2015 he was awarded the Joan Davies Memorial Prize for the most promising young pianist at the 63rd ROSL Annual Music Competition.
