The second concert of this year's Rencontres Musicales d’Évian will begin with a stirring piano rendition of Maurice Ravel's La Valse by the phenomenal Beatrice Rana. Gautier Capuçon, one of the brightest stars of the cello, will then join Rana for Beethoven's Cello Sonata No. 4, marking the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth. When clarinetist Paul Meyer takes the stage, the superb trio will finish out the concert—live from the magnificent Grange au Lac—with the moving melodic lines of Brahms's Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, brimming with nostalgia, by turns tormented and luminous.
