Program notes
Le Balcon, one of the most iconic ensembles in the world of contemporary music, would like to invite you to join them for an exceptional live event at the Festival de la Fondation Singer-Polignac! The halls of the prestigious Parisian institution will resound with the music of Gérard Grisey’s Accords Perdus (Lost Chords), a work for two French horns whose subtle sonorities delightfully explore the full tonal range of the instrument.
The evening continues with the third act of Revelo by Marco Suárez-Cifuentes, titled Fils de l’homme (Son of Man) and inspired by the book of Revelation. The role of Jesus Christ, intensely virtuosic, is interpreted with aplomb by soprano Michiko Takahashi in a staging by Nieto. The concert ends with The Viola in my Life by American composer Morton Feldman, a trilogy that places the viola in the spotlight, with the extraordinary Grégoire Simon as the soloist.
