Two Italian maestros are at the center of these two brilliant performances captured on film. First, Carlo Maria Giulini leads the New Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus in Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri (“Four Sacred Pieces”) at Croyden’s Fairfield Hall in 1968. Then, in a concert from 1967 at Paris's Maison de la Radio, Constantin Silvestri leads the ORTF Philharmonic Orchestra in the Overture from Beethoven’s commemorative work König Stephan, Op. 117.
