This enchanting concert from the 2020 Festival & Académie Ravel envelops you in a southeastern French soundscape straight from the Basque country—with a focus on native son Maurice Ravel, born in Ciboure in 1875.
Pianists Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-François Heisser, and sisters Katia and Marielle Labèque will all have a turn at the keyboard, with high-flying performances of the master's greatest piano works, including the Rapsodie espagnole and Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose). The Ensemble Hegiak rounds out an already impressive cast with Basque songs and percussion. The evening ends with the perennially beloved Boléro like you've never heard it before: in a brand-new, delightful arrangement for four pianos and traditional instruments!
