Program notes

Celebrate the 90th birthday of conductor Bernard Haitink with the London Symphony Orchestra and the pianist Till Fellner! Together they present a program featuring Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 and Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony.

Born and trained in the Netherlands, the maestro Bernard Haitink is beloved by both the orchestral musicians that he has conducted and the audiences for which he has performed. Celebrated for his interpretations of Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms, Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitri Chostakovitch, Franz Liszt, and Anton Bruckner, he is described by Till Fellner—the solo pianist who performs on the second half of the program—as above all “a very noble man and musician”. Enjoy one of Haitink’s last concerts before his sabbatical year and experience a performance sure to be inspired by what the maestro describes as “the miracle of music”!
