Program notes
The incredible and versatile Alim Beisembayev presents a diverse collection of works in the Auditorium of the Fondation Louis Vuitton! He performs Bach’s eternal French Suite No. 2 in C Minor, along with Schubert’s lunar and mesmerizing Piano Sonata No. 19, and the intellectual, musically innovative Transcendental Etudes by Franz Liszt.
The young virtuoso, just twenty-four, rapidly drew global attention after winning the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition in September 2021, performing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Andrew Manze. Among many other distinctions, he was also awarded the medici.tv Audience Prize.
Witness this piano prodigy interpret these masterpieces with a subtle and multicolor sensitivity—a "real musical personality” (The Guardian)—capable of ranging from tranquil tenderness to fiery virtuosity.
