Denis Matsuev joins forces with the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra and music director Alexander Sladkovsky for an all-Prokofiev concert program recorded live at the Saydashev State Grand Concert Hall in Kazan, Russia.
The "Denis Matsuev meets friends" Music Festival is a new collaborative project of two celebrated Russian musicians: famed pianist Denis Matsuev and conductor Alexander Sladkovsky. Good friends of long standing and frequent partners on stage, they are behind many exciting cultural events held in Russia every year that greatly contribute to the artistic life and musical training programs in their native land.
medici.tv presents here two concerts performed by the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, Matsuev, and Sladkovsky in October of 2013. Both concerts were centered on giants of the classical repertoire: Johannes Brahms and Sergei Prokofiev. This second program features captivating performances of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Symphony No. 5, two virtuosic and melodious scores filled to the birm with his iconic dance-like rhythms.
This concert and broadcast were initiated by Denis Matsuev and Alexander Sladkovsky with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.
TNSO and the initiators of the project express sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov.
