Program notes

The concerts of the new established Lucerne Festival Orchestra with Claudio Abbado as its conductor made triumphal headlines worldwide.

In summer 2005, Claudio Abbado and his elite Orchestra with outstanding musicians such as Kolja Blacher, Albrecht Mayer, Georg Faust, Emmanuel Pahud and the Sabine Meyer Ensemble perform a Major work of the piano literature, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with one of the world's leading pianists Alfred Brendel. Another highlight of this concert recording is the performance of Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 7.
