Tonight, the Prize-Winners* of the Chopin Competition will perform in recital or accompanied by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk. Seong-Jin Cho, Charles Richard-Hamelin, Kate Liu, Eric Lu and Yike (Tony) Yang will play works by Chopin for an exciting Gala Concert. Watch the concert live on medici.tv.

As the Grand Finale of the 2015 International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition ended on the 20 October, the 17-person jury, led by Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, awarded prizes and honorable mentions. The jury was mainly composed of great pianists including Prize-Winners from past Competitions: Adam Harasiewicz, Martha Argerich, Janusz Olejniczak and Yundi. Here is the full list of Prize-Winners:

Since the 1st Chopin Competition which took place during the winter of 1927, the Competition has highlighted the Polish composer’s works and rewarded its best interpreters. The Competition takes place every five years in Warsaw. It has helped to discover such talents as Lev Oborin, Bella Davidovich, Adam Harasiewicz, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Maurizio Pollini, Martha Argerich, Garrick Ohlsson, Mitsuko Uchida, Krystian Zimerman, Yundi, Rafał Blechacz, Yulianna Avdeeva and Daniil Trifonov. This year, the First Prize was awarded to Seong-Jin Cho.
*Unfortunately Dmitry Shishkin (6th Prize) is unwell, he will not be able to perform tonight.
