MARIA SAVASTANO was born in Buenos Aires. She was a member of the Teatro Colón and the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra national de Paris, where she performed in many operas and concerts.
The soprano sang at the Teatro Avenida des Buenos Aires, in Rennes, Dijon, at the Opéra Garnier and Bastille in Paris and the Teatro Real, Madrid, among others. Her repertoire includes Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Norina (Don Pasquale), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Musetta (La bohème), Despina (Così fan tutte), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), Angelo (La resurrezione) and Serpetta (La finta giardiniera).
She has been awarded the Stimulus Award in Argentina, the Prix lyrique du Cercle Carpeaux and the Prix AROP in Paris. Future plans include Papagena at the Teatro Real with Sir Simon Rattle, Servilia at the Paris Opéra and Serpetta in Lille and Dijon with Emmanuelle Haïm. With “Quel guardo il cavaliere” (Don Pasquale) and “Quando mén vo” (La bohème) she won first prize at the NEUE STIMMEN International Singing Competition in 2005.
