Julia Novikova

About

Julia Novikova studied opera singing at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. The soprano has appeared at many leading opera houses, her favourite roles including Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Norina in Don Pasquale, Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte and Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos.

She celebrated great success as Gilda in the television production of Rigoletto, which was filmed in the original locations and transmitted live to 148 countries. In 2011 she was highly acclaimed for the title roles in Bellini’s La Sonnambula in Bonn and in Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol at the Quebec Opera Festival and the Salzburg Festival. She returned to the Salzburg Festival in 2012 as Königin der Nacht in Das Labyrinth.

She has given many concerts and recitals, performing in Amsterdam, Paris, New York (Carnegie Hall), Budapest and London (Covent Garden). Among several other awards, Julia Novikova won both first prize and the audience prize at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition 2009. With her “Où va la jeune Hindoue” (Lakmé by Delibes) she won the NEUE STIMMEN audience prize in 2007.
