Christina Poulitsi

About

Soprano Christina Poulitsi was born in Athens, Greece.

As a scholar of the “Maria Callas” and "Alexandra Trianti" foundation she studied at the Berlin University of Arts with sopranos Dagmar Schellenberger and Brigitte Eisenfeld and received her Master’s degree with “Honors”.

Prior to that she studied Musicology and Musical Theory in Greece at the University of Athens and received her Bachelor’s degree with Honors. She attended seminars by Alberto Zedda and Michael Hampe. During the 2012-2013 season Ms Poulitsi made an outstanding debut with Semperoper as Queen of the night. She appeared at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and also debuted as Queen of the night at the National Opera of Greece.

For the 2013-2014 season Christina Poulitsi will be returning to Semperoper and will also be making her housedebut in Torino as Queen of the night. As well as she will appear as Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Greek National Opera. In May 2012 she performed the same role at Theater Freiburg and a few months before debuted there as Queen of the night. In November 2011 she won the 1st Prize at the International "Nico Dostal" Competition in Vienna.

In 2010 she sang with great success the role of Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims during the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy, under the direction of Mo Alberto Zedda. During the summer of 2010 she sang with great success and received astounding reviews for her interpretation of the Queen of the Night at the open air theatre Felsenbühnen Rathen in Saxon Switzerland as well as at the Luisenburg Festspiele in Bavaria in Germany.

In 2009 Christina Poulitsi debuted at the National Opera of Greece with the leading role of Isabella in Rossini’s “L’inganno felice”. She has sang numerous leading parts such as the Queen of the night, Musetta, Soeur Constance in Poulenc’s Les Dialogues des Carmelites and others. Christina Poulitsi was a member of the ensemble of Landesbühnen Sachsen theatre in Dresden where she performed many different roles such as the Queen of the Night, Musetta, Ännchen, Gretel, Anna Reich, Lisa (Gräfin Mariza) and Juliette Vermont (Der Graf von Luxemburg). She has also sang a large variety of concerts such as Carmina Burana at the Zwingerfestival (the court palace) in Dresden, Bach’s Cantata BWK 21 at the Bach Festival in Athens, Bach’s Magnificat, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Gloria and many others.
