Charles Workman

Biography

Charles Workman was born in Arkansas and is a graduate of the Juilliard School. A highly-regarded interpreter of Mozart, Handel and French opera, he is a versatile artist whose repertory ranges from Monteverdi and Baroque music to German Romantic and contemporary opera. Following early debuts at the Metropolitan Opera and other American opera houses, he moved to London in 1995 and has performed with leading opera compagnies and orchestras including Paris National Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Milan Scala, Zurich Opernhaus, Berlin Staatsoper unter den Linden, English National Opera, Rossini Festival, Madrid Teatro Real, La Monnaie in Bruxelles, Geneve Grand Théâtre, Venice Fenice, Barcelona Liceu....

Among other works, he performed Abaris (Rameau) under the baton of Simon Rattle, Bach's Missa in B minor with Claudio Abbado, Idomeneo at the Paris Opera, ...
