About

Anastasia Kalagina studied at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. In 1998 she joined the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers and in 2007 she became a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre.

Her concert repertoire includes Mahler’s Second and Eighth symphonies, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana among others. Some of her most significant opera roles include the title-role in Snow Maiden, Zerbinetta and Naiad in Ariadne auf Naxos or Susanna and Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro.

Throughout her career she has performed in Europe, in the USA, as well as in Israel and Japan. In 2008 she was praised by critics for her performance in the Russian premiere of Henri Dutilleux’ s Correspondances and received the Montblanc New Voices prize .

Previous awards and prizes included first prize at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers' Competition (St Petersburg, 2002), the special prize at the International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition (Warsaw, 2001), and at the International Vocalists' Competition in China (2005).

More recently, she sang in the opera/play The Infernal Comedy, starring John Malkovich in the main role, and in the Symphony No. 2 by Malher under the baton of Tugan Sokhiev (performance broadcast live on medici.tv).
