Martha Argerich, Menahem Pressler, Nikolai Lugansky, Daniel Hope, Vilde Frang, Gautier Capuçon play Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Mozart

We begin with the enthusiasm and virtuosity of pianist Martha Argerich and trumpeter David Guerrier, who revel in the humor and irony of Shostakovich’s Concerto for Piano and Trumpet, supported by Gábor Takács-Nagy and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra.

Next pianist Nikolaï Luganksy, violinists Daniel Hope and Vilde Frang, cellist Gautier Capuçon, violist David Aaron Carpenter, and clarinetist Alexander Bedenko give an arresting performance of Prokofiev’s single movement work Overture on Hebrew Themes, Op. 34.

Finally, Menahem Pressler gracefully deploys his characteristically suave music-making in the “Andante” from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 in G Major. He is joined on stage by conductor Daniel Harding and the Verbier Festival Orchestra.
