Program notes

Early music authority, harpsichordist, conductor, and recipient of Juilliard's 2012 Honorary Doctor of Music degree, William Christie leads artists from Juilliard Historical Performance in a live-streamed master class. He will be joined by Paul Agnew.

Harpsichordist, conductor, and recipient of Juilliard's 2012 Doctor of Music degree, William Christie is a world famous authority in early music. Since moving to France in 1971, the American-born musician has become a pioneer in his field, introducing baroque music, and in particular 17th and 18th century French repertoire, to a wider audience. Christie's master class of Historical Performance features François Couperin's Second Concert from Concerts Royaux, Dario Castello's Sonata Decimasesta from Sonate Concertate in Stil Moderno, Libro II, Antonio Vivaldi's Flute Concerto in G minor, RV 439, "La Notte", and Jean-Féry Rebel's Les Caractères de la Danse.
