Leonardo García Alarcón — Conductor

Program notes

This documentary goes backstage during the preparation of the yearly European tour of the Youth Orchestra of the Greater Region, with the brilliant Argentinean conductor Leonardo García Alarcón.

In 2013, the Liège Conservatory hosted a beautiful musical adventure: an intense week of rehearsals, with the great conductor Leonardo García Alarcón.

Leonardo García Alarcón is one of the most prominent Argentinean conductors of our time, now specialized in baroque music. He earned international recognition when he performed Falvetti's remarkable Diluvio universale and Zamponi's Ulisse all'Isola di Circe.

For this tour though, he conducts Argentinean music, including tangos and Argentina Sinfonica, Astor Piazzolla's beautiful yet rarely performed work.

This documentary tells the story of these 80 young musicians, selected amoung the best students of the conservatoires and music schools in Sarre, Lorraine, Luxembourg and Wallonie, who are learning and interpreting these works.
