Program notes

Zaide Quartet will meet again the pianist Beatrice Rana in order to form a charming quintet, serving Mozart, Janáček and Schumann.

Zaide Quartet was born in 2009 of the union of four brilliant female musicians’ creativity and sensitivity. Ever since, they keep succeeding in the greatest international competitions. In 2012, the International Joseph Hayd Chamber Music Competition Vienna awarded them the First Prize as well as three Special Prizes including best performance of Haydn’s works.

Today they will face another classicism iconic figure by performing Mozart's Quartet in D Minor, K. 421. Leoš Janáček’s bohemian lyricism shines through the Kreutzer Sonata, Quartet n°1, while the Quintet for piano, two violins, alto and cello in E-flat Major, Op.44 unveils Schumann’s Romanticism. To accompany them along this work we will meet again the Italian pianist Beatrice Rana, young prodigy who recently shone under the spotlight of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and who had already won the prestigious Montreal International Musical Competition’s First Prize at the age of 18.
