Program notes

Under the baton of the music director Tugan Sokhiev, the musicians of the Orchestre National du Capitole are for the first time on medici.tv! The programme features Tchaikovsky's overture to Romeo and Juliet, followed by the Songs and Dances of Death, written by Mussorgsky! These melodies will be performed by the Russian mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina, who collaborates for the first time with the Toulousian orchestra. A milestone of the Romantic symphonic repertoire, Brahms' First Symphony, lately written by a composer who asked himself during his whole life "how to write after Beethoven?," will be played for the second part of the concert.
