Program notes

The Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse makes a stop in the Salle Pleyel, Paris, accompanied by its music director Tugan Sokhiev and the pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, live on medici.tv!

Since last November, medici.tv has let you follow the highlights of the Orchestre National du Capitole's season live from the Halle aux Grains, Toulouse, with vivid concerts featuring Olga Borodina, Antoine Tamestit, Renaud Capuçon, Joseph Swensen, Nathalia Romanenko... We now offer you to meet the orchestra in the legendary Salle Pleyel, Paris, on May 12!

Tugan Sokhiev, who has been at the head of the orchestra since 2005, will conduct a definitely French programme, initiating the concert with Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, and closing it with the emblematic Symphonie fantastique, written by the only ambassador of French Romanticism, Hector Berlioz. A highly acclaimed guest for this exceptional concert is the French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, joining the orchestra to perform the very virtuoso Piano Concerto No. 2 by Franz Liszt.

Breaking! medici.tv will also broadcast two concerts of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse live from the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina (May 21-22, with Tugan Sokhiev and Bertrand Chamayou. More information here and here.)
