Program notes

Second concert live from Buenos Aires for the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Tugan Sokhiev, and the French pianist Bertrand Chamayou!

After a stop in Paris for a concert broadcast live from the Salle Pleyel (with Jean-Yves Thibaudet, available to watch again here), and a first concert at the Teatro Colón (watch it here), the Toulousian orchestra gives a second concert live from the mythical venue of Buenos Aires! This time, the music director Tugan Sokhiev has chosen a Mussorgsky programme, as a symbol for the Russian repertoire Tugan Sokhiev has initiated the orchestra with since 2005.

Bertrand Chamayou, who was recently awarded the Victoire de la musique classique (a much-coveted French prize) for his album dedicated to the Liszt Years of Pilgrimage, joins the orchestra to perform the Liszt First Piano Concerto (which he recently recorded). A Toulousian-born artist, Bertrand Chamayou has played with the orchestra several times.
