Program notes

The acclaimed Orchestre de Chambre de Paris hosts an exquisite outdoor all-Mozart concert in the sumptuous gardens of the Hôtel de Sully in Paris, led by the late, great pianist-conductor Lars Vogt, the ensemble's music director until his untimely passing in 2022. The richly varied program starts off on an effervescent note with the famed Overture from The Marriage of Figaro followed by the Concerto for Flute and Harp, featuring flutist Magali Mosnier and harpist Valeria Kafelnikov—one of Mozart's most original and perennially enchanting creations, with a sublime and serene Andantino to take your breath away. We're also treated to a sparkling rendition of the "Jenamy" Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat, called "one of the greatest wonders of the world" by the legendary Alfred Brendel and performed with the energetic wit and immaculate phrasing typical of maestro Vogt, who conducts from the piano bench.
