Program notes

Watch the star of the piano Lang Lang in his new project which combines ballet with works by Chopin – a project performed as a world premiere at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris!

Chopin's music often music draws its inspiration from dance rhythms; it is notably the case in his Waltzes, Polonaises and Mazurkas. John Neumeier even used works by Chopin as a score for his choreography of The Lady of the Camellias. Yet, it was a bold idea of Lang Lang to build a choreographic performance on a piano recital.

Lang Lang has always been passionate about Chopin's works, which he often plays in concerts. The Chinese piano prodigy now reinterprets fundamental pieces of his repertoire thanks to a collaboration with choreographer Stanton Welch and dancers of the Houston Ballet. A not-to-be-missed event, available live on medici.tv!
