Program notes

The 2014 "Débuts" series is inaugurated by Jean-Paul Gasparian, whose repertoire, at only 18, already ranges from Bach to Schoenberg.

Launched in 1990, Les Flâneries Musicales d'été de Reims are managed by the Flâneries Musicales de Reims association, which was founded to promote music in the city of Reims and surrounding areas. It has been twenty years now that each summer, young musicians and artists of international fame join forces in the beautiful city of Reims, France. Each year, they perform over fifty concerts in such various and lovely locations as the Basilique Saint-Remi, the house of the Counts of Champagne, the cathedral, the opera, the Palace of Tau, etc.

In 2012, the Flâneries Musicales de Reims inaugurated a brand new concert series named "Debuts," dedicated to the young talents of classical music. medici.tv partners with Les Flâneries for the 3rd consecutive year to broadcast the 3 "Debuts" concerts.

After having achieved brilliant studies at the Conservatoire National de Paris, Jean-Paul Gasparian received several international prizes and even became the youngest laureate of the Lyon International Piano Competition in 2013. He recently won a Denis Antoine award, a AVC Charity award, a prize at the international Cergy Pontoise Campus Piano Competition, and two awards at the Bremen International Piano Competition.

Jean-Paul Gasparian has already performed in many prestigious Parisian music venues such as Gaveau, Pleyel or Cortot, and abroad (Salzburg, Tel-Aviv).

On June 24, at the Flâneries Musicales d'été de Reims, he chose to perform masterpieces by Debussy and Liszt. Don't miss this concert, live webcast on medici.tv!
