Maxim Vengerov plays Brahms - Jaap Van Zweden conducts Mahler Verbier Festival Orchestra

About

The violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov is considered as one of the best violinists of his generation. Here he comes now live at the Verbier Festival! He will perform the famous Violin concerto by Brahms accompanied by the Verbier Festival Orchestra. They will play under the baton of Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden, who is yet and since 2008 Dallas Symphonic Orchestra's musical director and will become musical director of Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra very soon!

In the second part of the concert, you will enjoy the British soprano Kate Royal in the peaceful Symphony No 4 by Mahler, which last part is sung. This work was composed in 1899-1900 and is entirely different from the three other huge Mahler's symphonies. The composer achieved in this symphony a brilliant combination of modernity and Austrian tradition.
