Gianandrea Noseda conducts Verdi Verbier Festival 2013

A specialist in the music of Verdi, Milanese conductor Gianandrea Noseda returns to Verbier to conduct the composer's gorgeous Requiem.

After his sublime interpretation of Tosca at the 2011 festival, Gianandrea Noseda presents another foundational work of the Italian repertoire. For this masterpiece of sacred music, Noseda is joined by the choir of Turin’s Teatro Regio, where he is the music director.

Following on the heels of the performance of Verdi’s Otello with Anna Netrebko a few days earlier, the Requiem reveals another side of the composer, whose 200th birthday was celebrated in 2013. Restrained, the Messa da requiem’s sincerity and finesse are particularly touching.
