Program notes

The greatest Opera songs, from Rossini to Massenet, performed by talented voices and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Bizet, Puccini, Verdi, Massenet, Rossini… With such a programme, the lyric emotion should be really deep!

French conductor Fayçal Karoui, who has already proven his worth at the head of the New York City Ballet and the French National Orchestra, will conduct the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra alongside with unrivalled voices, for a journey through different eras.

The female voices of this programme are the Armenian Lianna Haroutounian, Verdian soprano also considered as one of the most promising performer of her generation (you might have heard her sing Don Carlo at the Verbier Festival earlier this summer); and the French mezzo-soprano Géraldine Chauvet who made her name by embodying Carmen at the Verona Arena in 2009 under the leadership of Plácido Domingo.

The Venezuelan tenor Aquiles Machado, winner of the Operalia competition run by Plácido Domingo in 1997, brings power and manhood to melodies charged with emotions, torn between fights and passions.
