Program notes

The young Russian prodigy Daniil Trifonov makes his Verbier Festival debut live on medici.tv!

Revealed in 2011 by the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, where he was awarded the first prize by Valery Gergiev in person, Daniil Trifonov has become one of the most sought-after pianist of his generation. He first appeared live on medici.tv during the Moscow Easter Festival this April, where he brightly performed Prokofiev's First concerto. Here he is now in a solo recital at Verbier Festival.

"He has everything and more," said Martha Argerich about him (Interview to the Financial Times on July 8th 2011). At the Verbier church, he performs excerpts from the Etudes Op. 10 and 25 by Chopin – a composer that he honored in his first album released on the Decca label.
