For the 11th edition of the Moscow Easter Festival, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and Valery Gergiev dedicated five concerts to Prokofiev – available through six videos on!

Starting each year on Easter Sunday (according to the Julian calendar), the Moscow Easter Festival features great concerts with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and its music director Valery Gergiev, but also internationally renowned soloists. That year, the festival invited Daniil Trifonov (1st prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011 and third prize at the Chopin Competition in 2010), Alexander Toradze (a familiar to Gergiev), Denis Matsuev (also a first prize winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition), Alexei Volodin (a former student of the Moscow Conservatory) and the American-Armenian pianist Sergei Babayan: they performed Prokofiev's five piano concerti. The two violin concerti were performed by Leonidas Kavakos.
