Program notes

Exclusively available on medici.tv, you're invited to the world premiere of a new work by the brilliant Philip Glass, one of the leading composers of our time: Alice, performed in Strasbourg, France by the Ballet de l'Opéra National du Rhin with Karen Kamensek leading the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse.

In Lewis Carroll's perennially beloved Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865), the young title character, seeking a remedy for the boredom of a languid summer afternoon, decides to follow a harried, smartly dressed white rabbit into his burrow… In 2022, American minimalist master Philip Glass and choreographers Amir Hosseinpour and Jonathan Lunn reinvent this timeless tale for the ballet stage, capturing the whimsy and fantasy that have beguiled so many generations of readers.
