In recent years 23-year-old Korean violinist Hyun-Su Shin has emerged as one of the most promising young artists in Asia.

At the age of four, Ms. Shin, began playing violin. After she got the Grand Prize in Honam Arts Violin Competition (Korea), she was accepted to the pre-school training program at Korea National University of Arts and has studied with Nam Yun Kim ever since. And she is currently playing with Giuseppe Guadagnini, Cremona 1794 sponsored by Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation.

Born in Seoul, Hyun-Su Shin won the Grand Prize in the Honam Arts Violin Competition at the age of nine and since then has won national and international awards including the Second Prize in the junior session of the 2002 Menuhin International Violin Competition, the First Prize at the Washington Johansen International Competition in 2003, as well as the Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the Hannover International Violin Competition 2006.

In 2007, she was awarded as “New Artist of the Year” by the Music Association of Korea. In November 2008 she won the First Prize of the renowned Long-Thibaud International Violin Competition in Paris. In 2012, she won the third prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition.

Ms. Shin made her debut with Jeonju Municipal Symphony Orchestra at the age of ten and has performed with Russian National Symphony, Seoul Municipal Symphony and the America National Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
