The young Moroccan tenor Abdellah Lasri was born in Rabat in 1982 and until the age of 20 has studied in an autodidact manner music theory and guitar.

He later was a member of different vocal ensembles in Morocco and after continuing further studies in composition and conducting he became the conductor of the choir at the National Conservatoire of Rabat.

With the support of a scholarship of the French Government he has continued studies in France, first at the Conservatoire de Bourgoin-Jallieu en Isère and later at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris in the class of Glenn Chambers. He took master classes with Caroline Dumas, Margreet Honig and François Le Roux, and gave his first recitals in Morocco, The Emirates, Jordan, Switzerland and Germany.

In the autumn of 2009 Abdellah was invited to join the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden where he has since then performed several roles on the main stage. In the current season 2010/2011 at the Staatsoper Berlin he will perform a.o. the roles of Belfiore in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, Spoletta in Puccini’s Tosca, Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Herald in Verdi’s Don Carlo.

In 2014, he was a finalist of Placido Domingo's Operalia competition.
