A musical journey through Malta
Malta joined the European Union in 2004, the date on which this documentary decided to discover a rich musical culture, influenced by its neighbours'.
Because the Republic of Malta and its capital La Valette are central in the Mediterranean district, the Ottomans, the French and the British have eagerly covet it in the past. The island's culture, and notably its musical heritage, has been influenced by those civilizations throughout history. In this film, you will be able to visit the Manoel Theater, Europe's oldest theatre, in which people can attend western classical music concerts but also performances of typical maltese musical works.
The Musical journeys explore European countries and meet with their musical traditions, past and present. A director wanders and stumbles upon celebrities of the classical world, students or amateurs who carry a passion for music. He draws a portrait of a musical culture and juxtaposes interviews with performances or concert excerpts: a delightful excursion!
