Otello – Verdi

Antoni Ros-Marbà, Willy Decker – Giorgio Giuseppini (Lodovico), José Cura (Otello), Vittorio Grigolo (Cassio) – Gran Teatre del Liceu

Seventy years after the triumph of the Rossini’s Otello ossia il Mauro di Venezia, Verdi premiered his own adaptation of the Shakespeare play at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

The Milanese public adored the new opera, leaving Rossini’s Otello to fall into relative obscurity. This new production from the Grand Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona makes a significant step to reinstating the Rossini opera to the regular opera house repertoire.
