The final round of the Montreal International Musical Competition!
The MIMC, founded in 2002 at the initiative of the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada, plays a key role in the finest tradition of classical concert music. The Competition seeks to discover, reward and support young singers, violinists and pianists who have distinguished themselves as masters of their art. Since the very first edition, dedicated to voice, in 2002, over 1,700 candidates applied to take part in various editions, and of these, 282 were given the opportunity to perform in Montreal, to the great delight of music lovers.
The international jury is presided over by MIMC president and co-founder Mr. André Bourbeau and the jury for the 2011 edition is made up of: Mr. Arnaldo Cohen (Brazil), Mr. Jean-Philippe Collard (France), Ms. Mari Kodama (Japan), Mr. James Parker (Canada), Mr. Benjamin Pasternack (United States), Mr. Imre Rohmann (Autria) and Ms. Lilya Zilberstein (Russia).
