With the passing of years, the woman had left behind the events, births, joys, sadnesses, optimism, fears, Communism, deceptions and rebellions of her youth — and a film of an interview.

A silent interview for the sound had been lost. This interview was shot 20 years earlier when she was head of the Communist Youth Alliance in Albania. The woman is the director's mother. He came across the film one day when they were moving house. Anri Sala went looking for the interviewer and others who might have remembered what his mother had said, but in vain.

The key to finding her words was in the reading of her lips. So he took the film to a school for the deaf and dumb who decifered her interview. He showed his mother the words she had uttered twenty years earlier...
