Evgeny Kissin plays Schubert and Scriabin
He is without question one of the most beloved pianists of our times; the young Evgeny Kissin is back at the Verbier Festival for a Schubert and Scriabin recital. Don't miss the concert webcast in delayed streaming on medici.tv!
His perfect virtuosity and the lyricism of his interpretations have made him one of the most beloved artists of his generation. A sought-after artist throughout the world, Evgeny Kissin has been loyal to the Verbier Festival for years.
This year he performs two Sonatas: Schubert's tenth sonata, also known as Piano Sonata in D major, D. 850, and Scriabin's Sonata-Fantasy, composed for his childhood sweetheart when he was only fourteen. If the first movement reminds us the sweetness of Chopin's works, the second one is more like a storm, with rare sonorities. Evgeny Kissin ends his recital with Scriabin's Etudes composed between 1894 and 1895.
